El Shaarawy helps apprehend attempted car thief

Any doubts regarding Stephan El Shaarawy’s fitness levels following his return to Roma from Shanghai Shenhua may have been put to rest this afternoon.

The 28 year-old was involved in a bit of chaos in the Italian capital earlier today after he successfully foiled an attempted car theft.

Around 17.00 today, “il Faraone” was returning to his car, which was parked on via Sudafrica near the EUR district of Rome, when he witnessed a man shatter the driver’s side window of the vehicle.

Ansa reports that the thief attempted to flee the scene when he realised that he was spotted. However, he was ultimately chased down and tackled by El Shaarawy before being arrested by two plainclothes police officers, who were near the scene at the time.
