El Shaarawy-Shanghai Shenhua negotiations continue

John Solano

RomaPress – It’s halfway thru January but Stephan El Shaarawy is still no closer to finding an agreement for the termination of his contract with Shanghai Shenhua.

The Italian international informed the Chinese side last month that he wants to leave permanently despite 18 months remaining on his contract.

The two sides have been engaged in discussions throughout the previous month — and this week marked the first time since December that they have been able to meet face to face.

Manuel El Shaarawy, the attacker’s brother and agent, touched down in Shanghai this past Sunday in the hopes of reaching an agreement with the club to free the attacker so that he can join Roma on a permanent transfer.

Even thought the sides met multiple times this week, they still haven’t been able to find an an agreement.

Roma General Director, Tiago Pinto, and manager, Paulo Fonseca, have made El Shaarawy among their top priorities for this month and they’re willing to wait on him.

The Giallorossi have also been in contact with the representatives of Everton attacker, Bernard, who remains the Plan B option.
