Former Roma and current Shanghai Shenhua attacker, Stephan El Shaarawy, spoke to fellow Italian Fabio Cannavaro, the manager of Guangzhou Evergrande, today on Instagram.
“Rome is the city I’m very fond of because I built so much more there than just a footballing path. For me, it was a period of rebirth after my so-so experience at Monaco,” said the former Milan man.
“I was a different age than when I was at Milan. The relationships I built inside Trigoria felt like a big family. I returned to the stadium in January and, once again, loved the affection I received”.
”A return? Once the Coronavirus broke out, I spoke to my club and told them I can’t risk not playing because of the Euros. The club and I tried to find a solution but nothing happened. There was contact with two Italian clubs, one of which came out pretty quickly because it’s where I was at previously”.
