Roma continue to be hot on the trail of Spanish midfielder Gonzalo Villar of Elche.
The 21 year-old has been a target for Roma sporting director Gianluca Petrachi for some time, however — with the recent injury to Amadou Diawara, the Giallorossi are trying to accelerate the operation for the midfielder.
Today, Elche boss José “Pacheta” Rojo confirmed at a press conference that an offer was presented to Valencia, who currently own 80% of Villar’s rights.
“It’s true, an important offer was made for Villar. We’re waiting on Valencia’s decision. I hope he doesn’t leave but I understand the situation,” he said.
“Everyone know how important of a player he is for me. We’re waiting to see what happens but I hope I can continue counting on him because we’ll have problems if he leaves”.
