Speaking ahead of this weekend’s league encounter with Roma, Empoli assistant Salvatore Sullo insisted his side must build-off the point they earned against Monza on Saturday.
Among the candidates for relegation, the Tuscans delivered a strong defensive performance in their season opener, drawing 0-0 versus Alessandro Nesta’s men.
“Now we must concentrate on how to make things difficult for Roma and how to play a good match, because otherwise, you won’t get the result,” he told the Empoli’s official television channel.
“And after playing a good match, you need to think about how to secure that result. We shouldn’t be looking at the calendar but instead focusing on Roma.”
He continued, “We must have the humility and determination to believe that we can earn points on any field. We know we won’t always succeed, but that’s our goal.”
“Week by week, we need to work on putting the team in the best possible position to play their best game and achieve the result.”
