Empoli President Fabrizio Corsi explained his side’s decision to let Tommaso Baldanzi join Roma on the final day of the January transfer window.
In an interview with TuttoMercatoWeb, Corsi shared insight into what happened behind the scenes including Fiorentina’s timid interest in the 20-year-old midfielder.
“Roma was an opportunity for us and for him,” said Corsi. “Every time I keep a player longer than I should it always ends up backfiring.”
“We will miss him, but we will try to move forward,” he added.
“Was Fiorentina onto him? Joe [Barone, Fiorentina executive] called me to understand the situation, but I don’t know if we can define it as interest. I am happy with the relationship I have with the Viola but that’s it.”
