The English Referee Association have released a statement condemning the behaviour of Roma supporters who verbally assaulted official Anthony Taylor after the Europa League final.

In a recent statement, the English Referee Association defended Taylor, calling Roma supporters’ treatment of him in the aftermath of the Giallorossi’s defeat to Sevilla “unjustified and repugnant.”

“We are aware of the videos circulating on social media showing Taylor and his family being harassed and mistreated at Budapest airport.”

“We are shocked by the unjustified and repugnant abuse directed against Anthony and his family as they try to return home after officiating the Europa League final. We will continue to provide our full support to Anthony and his family.”
