Sevilla attacker Erik Lamela responded to recent criticism from Roma fans after the Europa League final.

A few days after the Spanish side’s celebrations, Lamela dedicated a lengthy social media post, explaining his feelings toward his former club which played for between 2011 and 2013.

“Hello to all Romanisti… I want to congratulate everyone for the incredible journey you accomplished and for the way you played in the final.”

“Roma means too much to me, it was my first team in Europe and will always be the only one in Italy. I never wanted to play a final against you, but who knows why fate wanted it that way. I wanted to greet you under the Curva, but I was too nervous and excited.”

“I understand your pain and I understand those who are angry with me but I tell you that nothing and no one will ever change the love I feel for those colours. I am proud to have worn that jersey and I will love A.S. ROMA forever. Forza Roma Sempre.”
