Former Chelsea and Cagliari attacker Gianfranco Zola commented on the race for the Champions League qualification in this year’s Serie A season.
In an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, Zola remarked that he expects Bologna and Roma to be the primary teams to fight for Top 4.
“There are still 9 games remaining, anything can happen. but I believe that, in the long run, the duel will be limited to Bologna and Roma. They are the strongest teams in this race,” said Zola.
“I saw Bologna live in Cagliari and they impressed me with the way they move on the pitch,” he continued. “The players know what they have to do. It’s a pleasure to see Thiago Motta’s team, and it’s good for Italian football.”
“Roma? Why didn’t Roma express themselves according to their qualities? I don’t know what happened with Mourinho, but now with De Rossi you see Roma on the pitch and you immediately understand that there are some precise principles and the team knows exactly what to do. I’m delighted because I consider Daniele an excellent coach.”
