Gianfranco Zola on Conference League semifinal: “Roma can hurt Leicester.”

Former Chelsea and Cagliari player as well as Maurizio Sarri’s collaborator at Stamford Bridge, Gianfranco Zola, spoke to La Gazzetta dello Sport and previewed Roma’s Conference League semifinal vs Leicester City.

“Roma can hurt Leicester, but it will be crucial for the Giallorossi not to expose themselves too much,” he said.

“Because even if this year is not going well as in the past, Leicester have technical and physical quality.”

“Roma will have to watch out for Vardy,” he continued. “He’s extraordinary, he knows how to move through the opponent’s defensive lines.”

“Maddison and Tielemans are also complete players that can score and assist.”

“I think it will be crucial for Roma to be prepared to play at an extremely fast pace. The intensity is the main difference between Premier League and Serie A.”

Finally, Zola gave his opinion on Mourinho’s work at Roma so far, “I give him a positive grade.”

“At first he struggled a bit to create a reliable gameplan, but now Roma has found balance and José has discovered important young talents.”
