Utrecht midfielder and ex-Feyenoord man Jens Toornstra was recently asked about the night his side lost the Conference League final in Tirana against Mourinho’s Roma.
Toornstra sounded upset about the Giallorossi’s attitude on the pitch.
“That afternoon, before the game, we had coffee and talked about football players crying in front of the cameras. We said it would never happen to us,” Toornstra recalled in an interview with 1908.nl. “A few hours later we were crying.”
“It was my only chance to win a European trophy. We had a great European campaign, we just failed to win the cup in Tirana. This hurt me a lot.”
“The constant whining and rolling around the pitch by Roma players bothered me a lot. It was unbearable. Those guys probably do it every week in Serie A.”
