Former Inter manager Andrea Stramaccioni commented on this year’s Serie A race for Top 4.
In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Stramaccioni – who has now become a regular commentator for DAZN – discussed the heated duel between the likes of Bologna and Roma for a qualification spot to the Champions League.
“Roma and Bologna are two strong candidates for a place in the next Champions League and a top 4 finish, but for me the race is still open to others.”
“In the next 7 matches, the Giallorossi have 5 direct clashes, including the one with Bologna at the Olimpico, plus the double European match against Milan.”
“The rossoblù perhaps have a better calendar in their favor, with 3 direct clashes and above all the possibility to prepare each week without having to play every three days which will allow Thiago Motta to work 100% during the week.”
“Roma have a roster that is equipped to handle two competitions at the same time and it’s not by chance that they’ve managed to reach two consecutive European finals in the last few years.”
“However, I think the Europa League match-up with Milan could take a psychological and physical toll on the team. Beating Milan would give De Rossi’s men a huge boost.”
