Former Inter defender Marco Materazzi spoke about Romelu Lukaku’s decision to join Roma in the summer.
The Nerazzurri legend addressed Lukaku’s refusal to return to Inter on a permanent basis and the consequences of his decision ahead of the match with Roma at San Siro.
“I think he will not get a nice welcome from the fans,” Materazzi told FcInterNews. “He knows it. He will get treated badly. And it’s only normal because he betrayed Inter twice. He was forgiven the first time.”
“When he turned his back on Inter it was a pity for everyone. Ultimately, the results will tell who was right. When he returned from Chelsea to San Siro he was praised, so I would like to know what his motivations were this time around. He will certainly have had them, everyone knows what is best for themselves. Everyone goes his own way.”
Materazzi concluded, “Right now he’s scoring for Roma, I hope he doesn’t do it against Inter and then we’ll see who was right.”
