Former Inter, Napoli and Genoa attacker Goran Pandev weighed in on the race for the top spots in Serie A this season, referencing Roma and Lazio as a testament to the competitiveness of the league.

Currently, only five points separates places 1 through 8 in Italy’s top flight with clubs such as Inter and Juventus sitting seventh and eight respectively in the table.

“This is the most balanced Serie A has been in recent seasons,” Pandev told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Just look at Roma and Lazio, they’ve never been so strong. A prediction? For me, Inzaghi and Inter have the strongest squad in the league given the players they plus the arrival of Lukaku.”

He added, “Hopefully Inzaghi can succeed this season in where he fell short last year: their objective was to win the league and they fell short.”
