Ex-Inter player Dejan Stanković discusses Nemanja Matić’s loyalty to Mourinho

Former Inter player Dejan Stanković – currently serving as Red Star Belgrade’s manager – addressed Nemanja Matić’s signing with the Giallorossi in a recent interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“He has two fundamental qualities that Mourinho appreciates: reliability and loyalty,” he said.

“It means that Mourinho knows he can trust him both on the pitch and in the locker room, that he is a serious person, with great values and a beautiful family. And José knows fully well that he is a warrior. He’s the type of player that José likes.”

“He’s a very strong player,” continued Stanković. “He’s good at launching the team forward and leading the maneuver, quick to intervene and recover the ball, skilled when it comes to headers.”

“Then, thanks to his physique, he’s great at protecting the defense. I admit, I’m very curious to see how he will adapt in Italian football, but I have no doubt he will do well.”
