Former Inter president Massimo Moratti spoke at length about Jose Mourinho’s tenure in the Italian capital. Moratti – a close friend of Mourinho’s – has been very supportive of the Special One’s decision to return to Italy and start from scratch in Roma’s new project.

“We talked very often before he joined Roma and he told me about his decision to become manager there,” he said at a press event for Ivan Zazzaroni’s new book Becoming Mourinho. “I knew that this opportunity had presented itself to him.”

“I liked the idea of him joining Roma because it’s the right place for Mourinho to express himself. He’s rejuvenated since he joined Roma, because he has the possibility to build his team starting from scratch.”

“It is an effort that leads him to be younger. As an Interista, I am not jealous of the fact that he has returned to Italy and has chosen to coach Roma. When the decision was announced by the capital club I immediately thought of their supporters: it’s nice to wake up knowing Jose Mourinho is coaching your favorite team.”
