Former Mayor of Rome Virginia Raggi expressed her frustration with Roma’s latest sponsorship.
Raggi – a noted Lazio supporter whose tenure in the Italian capital obstructed Roma’s initial stadium project in Tor Di Valle – said in an interview with Giornale Radio FM: “I find it inappropriate that Roma decides to display the name of Rome’s main competitor city for hosting Expo 2030, Riyadh, as a sponsor on the shirt.”
“And it is scandalous that a mayor like Gualtieri, who knows the club well and has relationships with it, remains silent on this matter. Roma is a private football club and can do business with whoever it wants, I only dispute the moment in time, because on November 28th there will be the decisive vote for Expo 2030 and we are all engaged in an arduous fight to win the candidacy.”
“In this delicate phase it is an incorrect move, they could have waited until November 29th. The Capitol should make itself heard. I think Roma’s management is at fault – the owners are not Italian and probably do not care about the city’s candidacy. With Sensi or Viola it would have been different.”
