Former Milan and Italy manager Arrigo Sacchi praised Daniele De Rossi for turning the team around and making them competitive in such a short amount of time.

In a recent interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Sacchi gave De Rossi a high grade for his work so far during the first two months of his tenure as a coach.

“Daniele De Rossi is a modest and intelligent person: he had to replace a football giant like Mourinho and was able to get into the players’ heads,” said Sacchi.

“Today you see a team that has an idea – Roma now know what to do on the pitch. No one can perform miracles, but the idea of the game is already there and Roma are collecting good results.”

“Is there anything else to improve? Of course, always. In life you should love what you do and you can always do more.”

“De Rossi did well to begin with and probably the players weren’t too thrilled with the type of defensive and aggressive football they were forced to play before, in which attacking the referee was almost the rule.”

“He relaunched players who hadn’t played much lately, like Pellegrini, who is having an incredible spell. Then Rome is a difficult city, which involves you and overwhelms you. But De Rossi knows it well and is trying to play clean football, where all eleven players count.”
