Former Milan and Lazio midfielder Demetrio Albertini weighed in on the race for the Scudetto ahead of Serie A kicking off their 2022/23 season next weekend.
The 50 year-old was asked if anyone can battle Inter and Juventus for the league title, citing the Giallorossi as a candidate.
“The Scudetto? Let’s just say Roma can’t hide (from Scudetto challenged expectations) and they’re in that second group of challengers along with Milan, Napoli, and Atalanta,” he told Corriere della Sera.
“Mou is obviously a massive catalyst for attention but a really good squad is being developed around him.”
Albertini was also asked if Juve may regret letting go of newly acquired Roma attacker Paulo Dybala, who left the Bianconeri after seven years.
“For me, it appeared as if the Bianconeri made multiple attempts to get him (Dybala) to stay,” he said.
“Ultimately, though, they couldn’t reach an agreement. The truth is that when a contractual negotiation is carried on for such a long period of time, it can affect your performances on the pitch.”
Adding, “Not to mention, it also has an impact on your feelings towards the club.”
