Former Roma attacker Diego Perotti is returning to Serie A and joining last-placed Salernitana.
Former Roma and current Salernitana sporting director Walter Sabatini confirmed the 33 year-old will sign as a free agent as the club seeks to avoid relegation.
“It’s not official yet, but we’ve added Diego Perotti, who is a champion,” he told the club’s official website.
“He’s coming off a couple difficult seasons, but I’ve followed his path to recovery from injury and he’s doing well.”
The move reunites Perotti with one of his closest friends and another former Roma player: Federico Fazio.
The defender finalised his exit from the capital after five and half years late last week. He terminated his contract with the club by mutual consent then immediately joined the Granata on a free transfer.
“In Fazio, we’ve acquired a player who was nicknamed ’Il Comandante’ because of his ability to lead the unit,” added Sabatini.
“He’s another coming off a stretch of not playing much, but once he gets in condition he’ll guarantee us defensive stability.”
