Former Roma attacker Mirko Vucinic discussed the progress his former teammate, Daniele De Rossi, is making as the Giallorossi head coach.

In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Vucinic praised De Rossi’s start to life as Roma manager following Jose Mourinho’s dismissal in January.

“It’s very emotional seeing De Rossi on the Roma bench,” said Vucinic. “It wasn’t easy to take over from Mou, but the results are convincing.”

“With someone like De Rossi, a player who becomes the coach of his boyhood club, every game becomes more important, every game is like a final: there’s more passion involved.”

“As a player he used to recover every ball that came his way, but he also boasted amazing tactical intelligence. Today quality is important, he values it. He shouldn’t be compared to anyone else: he’s simply De Rossi, a modern coach.”
