Former Roma attacker and commentator Ruggiero Rizzitelli praised Mourinho’s emotional win in Tirana and detailed his feelings once the final whistle blew, gifting Roma their first trophy in 14 years.
“Roma’s success I consider partly mine as well,” Rizzitelli told outlet ASI. “That’s why I decided to go see the game live in Tirana and take my son with me.”
“I told him: ‘I’m tired of crying, this time we have to lift a trophy’ and luckily we did it.”
“It is almost impossible to describe what I felt that night. At the final whistle I hugged Aldair, Conti, Venditti and we all cried. I am one of them.”
“My wife is from Cesana, I live here. In the summer I move to Cervia, but I feel Roman. Roman and Romanista through and through.”
“For this I will never stop thanking Mourinho and all those who have worked to make us experience such a great night filled with emotions like the one in Tirana.”
