Former Roma defender Christian Panucci was asked to comment on Mourinho’s work at Roma as well his impression of Nicolò Zaniolo who led the Giallorossi to their first Conference League semifinals.
“You have to have personality to face the Roman environment,” said Panucci in an interview with Radio Radio.
“To build a proper team you need people who know about football, and Mourinho is certainly one of them.”
“Then, of course, it’s the players who walk on the pitch.”
“I’ve always dreamed of returning to Roma as a coach, but you have to deserve it.”
“Now there is a great coach, who has all the patience in the world. And all of Rome has been patient, the people have been close to him, and now they get to enjoy it.”
On Zaniolo, Panucci commented, “Zaniolo has great qualities, if I were him I wouldn’t read the newspapers today, it will depend on him and the desire he has to determine his own future.”
“Yesterday he had a great game. Zaniolo is young, he can still improve. I hope he can stay at Roma, if you give him space in front he becomes incredible.”
