Former Roma defender Cristian Chivu weighed in on the difficult spell the Giallorossi are currently going through.

In an interview with Radio Seria A, Chivu said, “De Rossi? I haven’t heard from him lately. I’ve spoken to his father several times with the Primavera.”

“I’m sorry for how things went at Roma. A coach needs patience and trust. Players also arrived in the last hours of the transfer market. Last season he did very well, he was happy. It was his dream.”

“Three coaches in eight months are indicative of the state this club is in. It is not easy to provide continuity. Different players have arrived, you have to integrate them. Rome is not an easy place. It takes a bit of time to get into the reality of the capital.”

“I made the leap from Amsterdam to Rome. I scored two goals in the first two games and that paved the way for me. I immediately became an idol. I was more focused on keeping my feet on the ground.”

“The pressure that you get at Roma you don’t get anywhere else. I happened to listen to the Roman radio while driving around the city, I listened to the fiery passion of the fans.”
