Former Roma centre-back Federico Fazio was recently asked about his move to Salernitana from Roma, a decision taken by the 34-year-old defender after six months of inactivity.
The player had been excluded by Mourinho before the start of pre-season and consecutively refused several destinations before agreeing to a short-term contract with Salernitana earlier in January.
Fazio spoke to Tuttomercatoweb about his exit from the Italian capital. “I didn’t come to Salerno for money,” he said.
“I have a career to speak of, and Sabatini had done so much for me that he convinced over the phone to come here.”
The Argentine international concluded, “I cleared up the issues I had with Roma. Although they were the ones who had an issue with me, not the other way around.”
