Former Roma central defender Juan praised former manager Luciano Spalletti as he enters his final match in charge of Napoli following their Scudetto success.
Despite capturing his first Serie A league title, the 64 year-old announced he will leave the club after tonight’s season finale against Sampdoria. He spent two different stints with the Giallorossi from 2005 thru 2009 before his return in 2016 and subsequent exit just eighteen months later.
“I’m happy Spalletti won the league this year, it’s a massive accomplishment,” Juan told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“We’re all aware that in Italy there’s three very powerful clubs up north, so winning in Roma or Napoli is much more difficult.”
Adding, “Spalletti is the best manager I’ve ever had in my career, I learned so much from him during our time together at Roma.”
“I also appreciated the growth he showed in his game once he returned to Roma back in 2016. He put on a display a much more modern style of football, a clear sign he’s willing to constantly learn then evolve.”
