Former Roma sporting director Monchi – whose turbulent stay in the Italian capital contributed to the club’s financial complications including today’s Financial Fair Play restrictions – spoke about the current situation Sevilla find themselves in, namely a concrete risk of being relegated to LaLiga 2.
“It’s a difficult, very complicated moment where it’s tremendously difficult to find some light at the end of the tunnel,” Monchi said in an interview with the club.
“It’s time to stand up and try to turn the tables around. It’s the most negative and complicated moment I’ve experienced as sporting director of Sevilla.”
“There is no other choice but to look forward and gain strength. We have to turn around a critical situation we have found ourselves in due to our own mistakes. I’m in more pain than I’d ever wish to my worst enemy. These are very tough times. It’s time to stand up and fight.”
