Ex-Roma General Manager Tiago Pinto reflects on Jose Mourinho’s dismissal

Andy Mattioli

Former Roma General Manager Tiago Pinto commented on his experience in dealing with Jose Mourinho’s unexpected dismissal from the capital club in January.

In an interview with Sky Sport, Pinto detailed his impressions from a difficult period which saw the Special One step down after 2.5 years at Roma.

“That was a very difficult day for everyone. I’m still young, I don’t know if older sporting directors manage differently. I die the moment a coach has to be fired.”

“De Rossi? Obviously Daniele is doing very well; he is a spectacular person. I was surprised by his awareness of what it means to be a coach, and the cost involved.”

“It’s true, when he arrived, De Rossi asked me to stay. We have always had a good relationship, even before his arrival.”
