Forme Roma General Manager Tiago Pinto weighed in Paulo Fonseca’s imminent appointment as Milan’s new coach.

The two Portuguese men worked briefly with one another between January and June of 2021, before Fonseca concluded his spell at Roma and was replaced by Jose Mourinho.

In an interview with Gianlucadimarzio.com, Pinto commented, “I see this move to Italy as a well-deserved opportunity for him. Paulo Fonseca did an incredible job at Lille, in a period of change in the team which, when he arrived, had lost half of its players.”

“He managed to have two spectacular years with great results, with a great European campaign, but above all with a very attractive game plan that was praised by everyone. That’s why, nowadays, coming to a club like Milan is something he really deserves.”

“The teams coached by Paulo Fonseca have always had a great identity: attacking and dynamic football. He is also a coach known for his ability to enhance players, especially young players, at each club.”

“Players have improved, grown and matured with his working method. And then he is truly a human being with superior human values and qualities. This makes him a relatively easy coach to work with for a director or president, or depending on the structure the clubs have.”
