Former Arsenal, Roma, and Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny announced his decision to retire after nearly 15 years of top-flight football.

Szczęsny, 34, spent two years on loan with the Giallorossi from 2015 to 2017, collecting 23 clean sheets in 81 total appearances during that stretch. He eventually joined the Bianconeri in the summer of 2017 and remained there up until his departure earlier this month.

“I gave 18 years of my life to the game, every day, without excuses,” the Polish international wrote on Instagram. “Today my body still feels ready for challenges, my heart is no longer there.”

“I feel that right now the time has come to dedicate all my attention to my family – my fantastic wife Marina and our two beautiful children, Liam and Noelia.”

“Therefore I have decided to retire from professional football,” he concluded.
