Former Roma defender Juan Silveira Dos Santos discussed the Giallorossi’s upcoming Europa League semifinal with Bayer Leverkusen.
In an interview with Il Messaggero, the Brazilian centreback – who also played for Bayer – called Roma favorites in the tie.
“I don’t think it’s worth spilling too many tears over the injuries that have affected the team,” he said.
“The players need to find the strength to react and bring out a great performance. Giving confidence to those who go on the field, that’s the key. The final is possible.”
“I think Roma are favorites. Although it is never easy to play against the Germans, they’re always very well organised.”
“Bayer has a young team, which runs a lot and has plenty of pace. Roma is stronger, it has high-level players, like Pellegrini and Dybala, which I really like. Then there is the Olympico atmosphere which helps.”
“And finally there is Mourinho. He is the right man for the job at Roma. It’s important to keep him because Roma must find continuity.”
