Former Roma midfielder Simone Perrotta weighed in on the recent controversy surrounding Gianluca Mancini’s decision to celebrate Roma’s derby win by waving an anti-Lazio flag at full-time.

In a recent event at the German embassy in Rome, Perrotta spoke about Mancini’s behavior in front of the Curva Sud after Roma’s 1-0 victory on Saturday.

“Mancini certainly made a mistake, but these are situations that are not easy to manage, being rational in those moments is not easy and I don’t want to condemn how it was done. Certain emotions must be experienced in order to be able to comment on it,” said Perrotta.

“De Rossi? Nobody expected him to have such an impact, but you could already see that he possessed coaching ability when he was a player. I’m not saying he surprised me, but I’m happy for him.”
