Former Roma manager Paulo Fonseca was asked by Rai Sport to talk about the two years he spent working for the Giallorossi from 2019 until 2021.
The Portuguese technician said he was very fond of the experience. “For me personally it was a huge pleasure being the coach of Roma.”
“It’s not easy for me now to talk about Roma, I don’t think I should. The Giallorossi need to be left in peace.”
“I can only say that Mourinho is a winner and I think they’ll do well with him.”
When asked about Zaniolo, Fonseca confirmed his positive impression of the 22-year-old. “He’s one of the most talented players in Italy.”
“Unfortunately I didn’t get the chance to coach him too often because for the majority of the time I was there, he was forced to deal with two serious injuries.”
Fonseca concluded, “I miss Rome, and I miss Italy. I like it a lot. I miss Italian football, I was very happy at Roma.”
“I would like to return to coach in Italy. Obviously it wouldn’t be easy to coach Lazio, but I’d consider some of the others.”
