Roma’s Gonzalo Villar has been one of the biggest surprises for the Giallorossi this term and has deservedly earned plaudits for his play since he settled into Paulo Fonseca’s midfield.
Because of his maturity and composure on the ball, one of the recent comparisons the Spaniard has recently drawn is to former Roma midfielder David Pizarro.
Just hours after Roma defeated another one of his former clubs, Udinese, “Pek” was asked about Villar and he conceded that he’s an admirer of the youngster.
“He’s certainly taller than me,” he joked to Play Roma.
”I see a lot of myself in him, he’s been a huge surprise. He is playing consistently and has a lot of personality, he has really surprised me. He knows how to play football and over the years he will get stronger.”
”I’m a fan of him, I like how he plays and the personality that he expresses in Italian football. Roma did well to be patient with him.”
