Ex-Roma midfielder Fabio Simplicio praised his former club for their performance in last night’s 3-0 victory in the Derby della Capitale against Lazio.
The Brazilian, who spent two seasons with the club, pointed out the team’s attitude appeared much different than in previous matches.
“The Derby was spectacular, I had a barbecue and stayed in front of the television. I was certain Roma would win,” he told Rete Sport.
“Mourinho’s done a great job with the team from a mental perspective. You could see in the eyes of the lads that there was the desire to win.”
“Pellegrini and Mkhitaryan led Roma to victory. We also need to point out the performance of the defence, they were perfect.”
He added, “This is a match that builds up for an entire week before it takes place. The supporters come to Trigoria to get you pumped up.”
“Scoring in the Derby is an indescribable emotion. Being able to celebrate with the supporters is incredible. I was able to experience this in the Coppa Italia and ran to celebrate in front of the Curva Sud.”
Finally, “Playing in Rome is an honor, when you step on to the pitch you can feel the love of the supporters.”
