Ex-Roma player Aleksandar Kolarov announces retirement

Former Roma fullback Aleksandar Kolarov has decided to retire at the age of 36 years.

“I want to let everyone know that I’m saying goodbye to football today,” he wrote to ANSA.

“I always knew that sooner or later this day would come and, despite this, I am grateful to have been able to realise what has always been my dream.”

“Now I’m already projected towards my ‘second life’ in the world of football,” he continued.

“And for this reason, as soon as the calls are published, I will enrol in the qualification courses, first as an observer and immediately after as a sports director, at the Federal Technical Centre of Coverciano.”

Kolarov joined Roma in 2017 from Manchester City and spent a total of three seasons with the club, tallying132 total appearances while collecting19 goals and 21 assists.
