Former Roma attacker Cristian Volpato spoke about his move in the summer to Sassuolo after growing up in Roma’s academy.
Volpato, along with Filippo Missori, was sent in a package deal to Sassuolo in order to facilitate Roma’s fulfilment of FFP obligations before the end of June.
“I remember to this day my first Serie A goal. It was against Hellas Verona. I experienced a dream come true on that day,” Volpato recalled in an interview with Rai Sport. “I will never forget the roar of the audience calling my name at the Olimpico.”
“José Mourinho, for us younger players, was like a second father. He certainly was one to me,” he added.
“Sassuolo? All the players who have been here have grown significantly and I think this is the right step for me. Dionisi is good with young people, I really like the club and I admire Berardi: he made me feel at home from the first day, I’m next to him in the dressing room and I think we’re a bit similar in the way we play.”
