Former Roma attacker Marco Delvecchio was asked about Daniele De Rossi’s surprise appointment at Roma as their mid-season replacement of Jose Mourinho.

Delvecchio – one of the protagonists of Roma’s 2001 Scudetto-winning squad – spoke to  notizie.com about De Rossi’s coaching abilities.

“Roma represents a wonderful city with wonderful fans. It’s a great team and you can’t refuse it for any reason in the world so I’m not surprised that De Rossi did not even think about it before agreeing to come.”

“Mourinho’s exit? I think deep down it has to do with issues between him and the ownership, otherwise it’s hard to explain such a sudden decision on their part.”

“Daniele is Roman and a Romanista at heart, regardless of the outcome, there is no way that this can backfire on him. He will certainly do well,” added Delvecchio.
