Former Roma attacker Vincenzo Montella had high praise for Jose Mourinho ahead of Roma’s second consecutive European final.
In a recent interview with Rai Radio 1, Montella said, “Mourinho is a winner. At a club that is almost 100 years old, he was able to carry Roma to two European finals in two years. He’s a genius from that point of view.”
“Mourinho’s future? I can’t predict it but he has left an important mark on Roma. The stadium has always been sold out, and there is that same enthusiasm I experienced in the 2000s.”
“Finals are always uncertain, a little history matters, I don’t think any of the two teams can be called favorite to win. The episode, calmness and peace of mind will be important. Roma have a precise identity, are a compact team and defend themselves very well.”
“It’s thanks to the coach who makes even talented players make sacrifices,” Montella added.
