Gianluca Petrachi is being linked with a return to Serie A after spending the previous two years out of football following his tumultuous split with Roma in June 2020.
According to Genovese newspaper Il Secolo XIX, Petrachi is being targeted by one of the American hedge funds that’s currently engaged in negotiations to acquire the club from current president Massimo Ferrero.
The 53 year-old has spent the past 24-months on the sidelines after being sacked by Roma less than one year on the job.
Since exiting the Italian capital he’s been approached by several clubs including PSG, Fiorentina, Salernitana, and most recently Hellas Verona. However, he recently stated during an interview that he’s “made a commitment to work at an Italian club”—increasing speculation he was referring to the Blucerchiati.
