Former Roma and Hellas Verona striker Nikola Kalinić – who came on loan from Atletico Madrid between 2019 and 2020, finishing with 5 goals in 20 appearances – was asked by Il Messeggero to comment his stay in the Italian capital.

“I think it will be very difficult for Roma to reach Champions League football. There’s just so many teams competing for it,” said the 34-year-old attacker.

“I enjoyed my time in the capital. It was a shame I played so little but it was a difficult years especially considering COVID and an injury that kept me sidelined.”

The Croatian international was also asked to speak about his good friend Edin Dzeko.

“He’s a real friend to me. I don’t know the reasons behind his departure, but I’m sure he’ll do great at Inter just as he did at Roma. He’s shown his class everywhere he’s been, he’s one of the best I’ve played with.”
