Former Sassuolo and Empoli striker Francesco Caputo revealed he had once been close to moving to the Italian capital.

In an interview with Radio Sportiva, the current free agent spoke about the time Roma approached him following an incredible season with Sassuolo in 2020, in which he collected 21 goals.

“After that season, Roma came looking for me. It was one of the many opportunities I had at that point,” said Caputo who recently concluded his time at Sampdoria.

“However, Sassuolo were then asking for too much money,” he added. “I was also close to Lazio: they wanted me as Immobile’s deputy.”
