Exams tomorrow for Pellegrini following ankle injury as he closes in on contract renewal

Roma are holding their breathe regarding midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini.

The Italian was forced to abandon the pitch in the second half during yesterday’s 0-0 draw against Sassuolo after midfielder Pedro Obiang stamped on the on his right ankle.

The club announced that the Pellegrini will undergo follow-up examinations tomorrow as the Giallorossi await to learn the extent of the injury.

Meanwhile, reports that the 24 year-old is closing in on a contract renewal with Roma.

Reportedly, the capital club is set to hand the midfielder a new deal until 2025 while also removing the €30 million buyout clauses in Pellegrini’s current contract.

Roma hope to be able to announce the news of Pellegrini’s renewal in the coming weeks.
