Exclusive, Newcastle pushing for Gregoire Defrel

John Solano

Exclusive – RomaPress.us: The future of Gregoire Defrel appears to be further and further away from Genova. The former Sassuolo man arrived at Sampdoria on loan this summer and scored three goals in his first four matches for the club. However, after the arrival this month of Manolo Gabbiadini from Southamption, the Frenchman is seeking a move away from the Blucerchiati. One of the solutions for Defrel could come in the form of English side Newcastle United, who are interested in the attacker.

Giampiero Pocetta, the agent of Defrel, commented on the player’s situation exclusively to RomaPress: “Could Defrel move abroad, perhaps to Newcastle? Maybe”.

The most likely solution is that the player’s loan with Sampdoria is cancelled and is sent abroad on loan for a further six months, however, the Giallorossi would be open to a permanent solution if they would be able to recoup as much of the €20 million they spent on Defrel as possible. There is still some work to be done but all of the parties are open to finding a solution.
