Exclusive: Roma still control Sanabria’s future

John Solano

Early today, Tuttomercatoweb reported that Real Betis attacker Antonio Sanabria’s future would ultimately be decided by the Spanish club, despite Roma having an option to buy the player back this summer for €11 million.

The transfer website claimed that the Giallorossi’s options to repurchase the player are merely a formality and that Real Betis would have the final say when it comes to the player’s future even though Roma have options to buy the player for the next two summers.

However, RomaPress today contacted a member of the Paraguayan’s entourage, who chose to remain anonymous, to address the rumors surrounding the player and his future. These are his words: ”This is incorrect. All we know is that Roma have the opportunity to bring Tonny back to the capital and it will be their decision.”

Sanabria has gotten on very well in Spain, so it is possible that he chooses to remain in the country, however, it is widely expected that Roma will activate their option to repurchase Sanabria, who could eventually be “re-sold”.
