Roma have formalized the UEFA list for the first phase of the Europa League, excluding Swedish full-back Samuel Dahl.
Despite the suspended Financial Fair Play restrictions, which allowed Daniele De Rossi to have greater freedom in choosing the 25 players, the compilation of the list still had to respect some mandatory criteria.
Among these, the inclusion of a minimum number of players trained in the club and in Italy – youth products, so to speak – which led to the exclusion of Dahl.
According to Il Tempo, the Giallorossi included only two of the four players trained in the club’s academy, but respecting the requirement of including at least three players grown and trained in Italy.
Due to these constraints, it was necessary to exclude a foreign player from among the registered players.
The choice fell on Samuel Dahl, who arrived in the summer, who lost the run-off to Buba Sangaré.
Roma’s latest signing, Mats Hummels, was regularly included in the list, confirming Roma’s desire to rely on his experience and leadership in the defensive department to face the European competition.
