Former Juventus and Real Madrid defender Fabio Cannavaro was asked to share his thoughts on this summer’s Serie A transfer window. The Ballon d’Or winner discussed, among others, Roma’s transfer business.
“Juventus came out on top in this window in terms of money spent on transfers,” he told Sportweek. “It remains to be seen whether they’ll come out on top on the pitch.”
“But, if I have to choose a club that made smart transfers with regards to their financial situation and technical requirements, I’ll pick Napoli. They got interesting players and lowered the team’s wages.”
“Roma also did well,” he said. “They signed several experienced players for Mourinho.”
He concluded, “I expected more from Fiorentina. But, ultimately I think Lukaku’s return to Inter is the biggest transfer of the summer.”
