Udinese have been compelled to make a managerial switch following their recent defeat to Hellas Verona.

The club from Friuli have in fact decided to sack Gabriele Cioffi, reports Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sport.

In his place they will appoint ex-Juventus and Real Madrid player Fabio Cannavaro.

Cannavaro joins at a complicated time: Udinese currently sit just above the relegation zone with 28 points, only one more than 18th placed Frosinone.

The newly appointed manager will make his debut in the match with Roma scheduled on 25 April where the two teams will play the remaining 20 minutes of the previously suspended match, with the scoreline of 1-1.
