Former Roma manager Fabio Capello was asked to share his thoughts on tonight’s Serie A fixture between Milan and Roma at San Siro. The Italian technician previewed the match and advised the Giallorossi on what strategies to use.
“Roma apply less high pressing than Milan,” Capello told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“They are more attentive and rely on a solid defense, but if the Fab Four play and don’t provide enough defensive coverage, the midfield struggles.”
“On set pieces, however, Mourinho’s team is really strong. The important thing is to have someone who knows how to take set pieces, and the Giallorossi have Pellegrini and Dybala. They don’t throw snowflakes, but tight, long balls which allow their tall defenders, good in the air, to intervene and occasionally score goals.”
On why Roma have a better record away from home, Capello remarked, “Because they’re not forced to dictate the tempo of the game. The tactics and attitude in a match away from home is much better suited for them.”
