Fabio Capello discusses Roma, Milan Europa League match-up

Andy Mattioli

Former Roma and Milan manager Fabio Capello discussed how the Giallorossi will match-up with the Rossoner in the Europa League quarterfinals.

In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Capello previewed what awaits Stefano Pioli and Daniele De Rossi.

“Milan are in a favorable moment at home and the first leg at San Siro can help them, even if Roma have now been recharged very well by De Rossi.”

“The first match must be played with great intelligence by the Rossoneri, because we have seen that when Roma find space they have the quality to hurt Milan. And the defense will also be important.”

“Milan must find their defensive stability again, while Roma seems to have found their needed compactness at the back. We also saw it in Brighton, and they should be feared in all respects. And it seems to me that now Roma really has a team spirit, a group spirit. They play with lots and lots of humility.”

“De Rossi? Tactically he seems very smart to me, he gave the team a clear style of play but also looks at how the opponents move, this is already a sign of intelligence. As a former midfielder and orchestra leader he understood that one must fear and take into consideration the strengths of rivals.”
